JJSHOTME Team Goes to London | Travel Adventures Photography

The last month has been an exciting time for our business! We had the opportunity to stop over and explore London, while traveling overseas! This is a place Jean had not been for over 30 years and Emily had never been!

Our first day was spent mostly walking! It was a gorgeous day with perfect weather and we wanted to take advantage. First stop was Buckingham Palace! No changing of the guard for us, but it was incredible to be up close and experience the detail and elegance of the palace.
This is Westminster Abbey. We were in awe of the architecture of the abbey and how large the building really is! Photos do not fully captivate the feeling of standing in this place.

We walked from Buckingham Palace through the city to the river walk, and across the bridge to St Pauls Cathedral. We were dying to go inside and ended up staying for the Evensong Choral Worship Service that evening. It was breathtaking to listen to the choir inside just beneath the cathedral dome.

We visited the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square where Emily was dying to view Van Gogh’s “Sunflowers”, in person. We also spent time exploring the British Museum and diving into the extended Egyptian history wing.

As big fans of all things sweet, we made it a priority to go to Harrod’s food floor and explore LaDuree, the patisserie, and tea selections. It was so tempting to take photographs of everything. The displays are so pretty and the sweets taste as good as they look!
Our last day was a favorite and the best way to end the trip! We signed up for a bus tour that took us out of London. First stop was at Windsor Castle and it was amazing. No photographs are allowed inside, but we toured the state apartments and even saw Her Royal Highness, Meghan Markle’s dress and veil from the royal wedding!
Stonehenge is just plain epic. We arrived to the site when the weather was nothing short of dramatic. The sun was shining as we drove up, but minutes later as we walked out and to experience famous stones, the sky got black and the heavens opened up to buckets of drenching rain. Sideways! Our umbrellas broke and within minutes we were soaked through as if we’d jumped in a lake. It was almost as if “the gods” determine the experience of it’s visitors. We are very thankful we had at least one moment to photograph this place before the torrential downpour began!
The last stop of the day was the city of Bath! We toured the famous Roman Baths and pump room. This dates back to the year 75 AD!
The architecture was stunning to look at and the restoration is really creative. You can definitely tell which parts of the structure are original and how they’ve extended the building in order to fully experience what it once looked and felt like.
